Featured on the BIA 2024 Tour of Remodeled Homes, this renovation boasts an updated elegant and classic style. Renovation includes the majority of the first floor. Refinished hardwood floors/stairs/railings and new paint throughout. Renovated areas include the family room, kitchen, breakfast area, bar area, mudroom and walk in pantry. A second story laundry room addition was created where there was a 2-story open space above part of the family room. The exterior was updated and the front door was replaced.

Master bathroom was transformed with a new layout accomodating a freestanding tub, more open shower, private water closet, and custom oak vanity with storage tower and knee space. Additionally, a custom oak wardrobe was constructed. Hardwood floors were refinished throughout the home to a more natural white oak tone. The dated brick fireplace and built ins were replaced with a new stunning focal point: a limestone fireplace with cedar mantel and wood storage doors. Cedar beams were added to give additional interest to the space and tie in the cedar beam accents in the breakfast nook and adjacent large porch roof.

2022 Tour of Remodeled Homes

When you drive by this 2 story home, you would never know that the 1-1/2 story garage was not part of the original construction. The garage was built to mimic the construction and details of the existing house. The ground level of the 2 car garage features epoxy flooring and stained wood stairs leading up to the loft area. The loft is flooded with light through the numerous windows. The loft features warm gray LVP flooring, a unique cork wall, custom storage built ins and utility sink.

A gorgeous arched limestone breezeway connects the garage to both the side entry to the home and the new screened in porch. The breezeway features a barrel vaulted tongue and groove ceiling, perimeter accent lighting and chandelier, standing seam metal roof and half round gutters. The pea gravel driveway extends through the breezeway and around back to the rear garage entry. In the rear, the driveway is bordered by a limestone retaining wall.

The screened-in porch extends the living area to the outdoors. The existing brick walls, new brick seat walls, and tongue and groove pine vaulted ceiling are all whitewashed to tie into the feel of the interior. The large plank wood-look tile floor in a warm tone coordinates with the wood burning limestone fireplace and custom wood mantel. A custom cabinet hides the electrical meter, as well as providing storage. Recessed led lighting and large white ceiling fan finish the space.

The screened-in porch is connected to the existing covered patio area, which was extended to accommodate a grill area with a brick wood storage nook. The new pavers under the covered area extend to the outdoor patio area and along the path leading to the driveway. A rock waterfall feature and landscaping complete the outdoor space.

This master suite was completely renovated. New draperies and furniture compliment the new plush carpeting and calming paint color in the bedroom. The bold blue paint and wall molding make a statement in the office. The small enclosed shower and cedar closet were removed to allow for the freestanding tub in the arched alcove with barrel vaulted ceiling. The dated corner tub and the area was converted into a large glass shower with champagne bronze fixtures. The shower boasts marble basket weave tile floor, extra large 24” x 48” polished marble-look porcelain wall tile, quartzite bench and curb, and niche with unique marble mosaic. Although the existing vanity cabinets remained, they were painted and new gold hardware added. The vanity area was also updated with quartzite countertops, champagne bronze faucets, decorative mirrors and gold sconces. The herringbone pattern floor tile continues into the master closet, as does the heated floor system. We designed and built a custom closet system including pull out tie and belt racks, double hanging space, shelves recessed into the attic space, and drawer stacks in the dormer areas.

Large exposed cedar porch cover with hipped roof was constructed to extend living area to the outdoors. Cedar columns, beams and rafters stained dark and contrasted by tongue and groove pine ceiling in medium stain. Stone fireplace with cedar mantel anchors the corner of the structure. Concrete patio floor cut into large diamond pattern to simulate large tiles. Additional shed roof with metal roof added to cover new grill area. The grill area consists of (2) grills in brick structure, stainless storage unit, honed granite countertops, bar height seating. A large ceiling fan and ample lighting finish the space.

This master suite was created by converting a bedroom into a master bathroom and closet with a mid century modern flair. Hardwood floors were refinished throughout the home, including the master bedroom. The bathroom was created to accommodate a private toilet room, custom double vanity, and large shower. The walnut vanity, designed and built in house, features slab door and drawer fronts with continuous grain across the front and a white quartz countertop. The black and white retro hexagon tile lend to the theme. The shower features black penny round floor, black shower fixtures including linear drain, white elongated shower wall tile in modern pattern. The mirrors and light fixtures complete the look. The other half of the former bedroom holds a master closet with custom built ins (not shown).

2021 Tour of Remodeled Homes - People’s Choice Award Winner!

Interior: We transformed this traditional living space to an open concept space with clean modern styling. We removed the wall dividing the family room and kitchen. We worked with the clients to create a functional space that included all of their wish list items. The sleek slab front cabinets were designed, built, and finished in house. We added a bar for entertaining and abundant seating around the large L shaped island. Quartzite countertops, glass backsplash tile, stainless appliances, pot filler, glass rinser, and walk in pantry cabinet are some of the many great features. Refinished hardwood, new paint and new door hardware finish out the first floor.

A new linear gas fireplace, large format white porcelain tile and quartz shelf replace the typical gray stone fireplace. The built ins on either side were transformed with new slab doors, quartz countertops, trim modifications and fresh white paint. The windows/doors/and wall were removed and replaced with a large Anderson gliding door to open the family room to the existing porch.

Exterior: We screened in the existing porch and vaulted the ceiling with t&g wood ceiling and cedar beams and trim. Step out of the porch onto the new paver patio and into the outdoor oasis. At the center is a heated gunite pool with water feature and tanning deck. Overlooking the pool is a stunning cedar pavilion structure with brick column bases/walls, porcelain paver floor, metal roof, large stone fireplace and outdoor kitchen. The kitchen includes granite top, bar top, grill, cooktop, sink, ice maker, refrigerator, and tons of stainless steel storage cabinets. New landscaping finishes off this incredible outdoor space.

First Floor: At the center of this first floor remodel was an outdated kitchen. Removing the soffits allowed for taller cabinets (more storage) and opened up the space. The layout was reconfigured to enlarge the kitchen slightly and create a better flow. There are so many great details: custom walnut hood, leaded antique mirrors, Taj Mahal quartzite countertops and full height backsplashes, unique wood-look quartzite island top, side swing double ovens, a drop zone by the garage door, and much more. Refinished hardwood floors and new paint throughout bring it all together. Additionally, the fireplace area received a facelift, sporting a quartzite surround/hearth and updated woodwork details. Finally, we built a custom bench in the bay window of the breakfast area. All the details come together for a truly amazing transformation.

Master Bathroom: The overall layout remained the same, but the transformation into a spa-like oasis is stunning nonetheless. Dated wood vanities were replaced with crisp white vanities and quartz countertops. New marble-look porcelain tile lighten the space. The cave-like shower was transformed, opening it up with a glass door and panel. Inside the porcelain tile is complemented by the stone shower floor and accented with a tall niche with quartz shelves and a gorgeous marble mosaic interior. The new undermount tub has a quartz top with waterfall front and surround.

This custom kitchen was designed and built in-house. We removed a pantry closet to open up the space and allow for a large island. We also expanded the kitchen, using some space from the front room. The kitchen design incorporated all the client’s requests and lots of functional storage. The L-shaped perimeter is stained maple beaded inset cabinets with a painted island. Cambria countertops make a bold statement and are complimented by a contemporary straight laid tile backsplash. A large skylight brings natural light into this interior room.

The new kitchen layout allowed for an extra large island with counter height seating. White perimeter cabinets and walnut island cabinets are complimented by the quartz countertops and full height quartz backsplashes…no grout to clean! And antique brass pendants over the island catch your attention from any entry. Adjacent to the kitchen, the former laundry room was repurposed into a functional mudroom. Custom cabinets and built-ins provide storage. Black chevron tile floors, ship lap wall cladding, and farm sink with brushed brass faucet all contribute to the welcoming style of this small space.

STORAGE!!! New cabinet layout utilizes entire footprint to provide maximum storage. Additional storage can even be found above the toilet. Diagonal laid wood look tiles and marble countertops with warm gray tones compliment the fresh white cabinets. The new tile shower has white marble-look tile with a warm gray marble accent tile.

2019 Tour of Remodeled Homes - People’s Choice Award Winner

The entire first floor was renovated in this stunning house in Hartland. With garage entry closets and wall removed, the expanded kitchen boasts white beaded inset cabinets, Sub Zero appliances, beveled tile backsplash with herringbone detail area, and quartz countertops. The gray-brown stain and hand distressing on the island and bar cabinets set them apart. Enlarged openings from the kitchen and family room to the office and piano room create a more open feel. Raising the sunken sunroom and removing the multiple large columns by installing steel beams, created an open concept first floor area. The old sunroom doors were replaced with new Andersen Gliding Doors and the exterior is clad with fiber cement board. A nearby window was converted to outswing Andersen French Doors. Refinished white washed hardwood and new paint brighten the space. New carpet and railings featuring iron balusters, along with new door hardware complete the look.

Exit the living room and you enter a large screened-in porch with vaulted ceiling with tongue and groove fir and two skylights for additional light. IPE tongue and groove flooring bring in rich hues of burgundy and copper. Rough cut cedar posts and beams support both the deck and porch ceiling. Recessed lighting and ceiling fan complete the space. The screen door leads to an open deck with trex decking. Black aluminum railings provide elegant low maintenance protection around both the screened-in porch and open deck. The lower portion of the elevated decks is enclosed with stone veneer between the cedar columns with a sliding cedar barn door for under deck storage access. The elevated planter ties the two decks together at the ground level.

The lower level consists of multi-level paver patio space with curved lines that flow naturally from one space to the next. Adjacent to the open deck, a large u-shaped kitchen with granite countertops and stone veneer face provides ample counter space. The kitchen features a gas grill, side burner, sink, ice bin, trash pull-out and under cabinet storage. One step up is an elevated patio with a couple steps up to the paver path leading to the exterior back yard entrance. Next is the built-in gas fire pit area surrounded partially by a seat wall and accented by large natural boulders. All of these spaces wrap around the corner of the resurfaced in-ground pool deck and feature led accent lighting for ambiance and subtle path lighting.

Conrad Construction Company renovated the kitchen and family room area of this home. The kitchen was completely gutted, removing soffits and bulky pantry. The new layout accommodates a large center island with ample seating. Kitchen features white shaker cabinets and white painted hood surrounding a navy blue island, as well as granite countertops and white subway tile backsplash. Glass knobs and stunning island light add a little sparkle. New hardwood floors installed throughout kitchen and family room stained warm brown tone to match existing floors in adjacent area. In the family room, dated wood built-ins, wood ceiling beams, and a wall of closets were removed. Large double window replaced existing small window to add an abundance of natural light to the previously dim space. Recessed LED lighting and a beautiful wood ceiling fan define the spaces. The stand out feature is the custom media center with tons of cabinet and bookshelf space. One large closet near garage entry remained and was reconfigured for coat and shoe storage.

Conrad Construction Company renovated this approximately 700 sq/ft basement in an effort to unify it with the first floor renovation recently completed, but with a more masculine twist. Stairway was opened up at bottom by removing part of a wall. Wainscot paneling and new railings were added to match the foyer and stairway on the main floor. The same warm gray and clean white paint colors from the first floor were also used and carpet was replaced with a subtle gray and blue pattern. White built in bookcases with cabinets below welcome you as you approach the bottom of the staircase, where closets were removed. Tucked in the corner, the clients glass display cabinets transformed into a gorgeous built-in to showcase model trains, complete with display lighting. The light wood was painted a warm dark gray for a masculine touch and trim was added to the base and top to complete the built-in look. In the main area, a closet was removed to allow for custom bar/serving area with mini fridge and microwave featuring cabinets painted in the same warm dark gray of the train display and a gorgeous quartzite countertop. The steel beam and support post were exposed, cleaned lightly and clear coated to display the natural beauty of the raw steel. Just beyond the beam, a reclaimed barnwood wall serves as background for large TV with unique sconces on either side. A custom basketball goal made from barnwood and steel was created as well. Additionally, the basement bathroom was updated. New wood look tile flooring laid on the diagonal and custom blue quartzite floating sink, along with large mirror with steel angle frame give this small room lots of character.

2018 Tour of Remodeled Homes - People’s Choice Award Winner!

Conrad Construction Company renovated this 4,200 square feet, 2-story home. Stunning arched iron front door with mahogany trim welcomes you inside where iron balusters highlight the foyer stairway and lightly whitewashed oak floors continue throughout the first floor. The enlarged dining room boasts a coffered ceiling and wainscot paneling. The completely reconfigured kitchen showcases custom cabinets, an extra-large island with double thick quartz top, walk-in pantry, and custom zinc hood. Cedar beams at the breakfast area ceiling mimic the rustic cedar porch outside. Removing a wall converted a once awkward room into functional space with gorgeous inset bar cabinets and an Andersen E-Series outswing double door. Mudroom features shiplap walls, herringbone brick tile floors, and barn wood bench. Upstairs, the new master bathroom layout includes separate vanities, spacious tile shower and separate steam room. Master closet designed with custom storage at perimeter and center island with barn wood top.

To extend the living area outside, we removed the existing pergola and designed a cedar framed screened-in porch. The unique roof lines provided a challenge, but in the end created a stunning frame work with heavy timber cedar beams and exposed tongue and groove ceiling. We also reworked the existing brick paver patio. An extra large ceiling fan keeps the air moving, making the space comfortable on warm days. A linear fire pit boasts a warm inviting glow in the evenings.

This home was built to accommodate every style, detail and need the owner envisioned. It is a 2000 sq/ft ranch that blends into its wooded surroundings with the use of brown tone brick and shingles and rustic cedar trim. The use of barn wood and cedar inside as well as oak hardwood floors throughout make this home warm and inviting. Floor to ceiling Andersen windows and doors allow you to see the views from every room. A 1000 sq/ft screened in porch includes a grill area with granite countertops, a large fire pit, dining area, and a sunken hot tub.

This home was built on a crawl space with a poured wall foundation, has 3 bedrooms with walk in closets, four full baths, Wolf and Sub Zero appliances, granite countertops, a Smart alarm and audio system, a Trane HVAC system, and foam insulation.

Conrad Construction Company extended the existing covered porch to accommodate a built in grill and serving area for entertainment. Gas grill with stainless cabinet are built into brick surround, as well as a separate area for a green egg grill. Granite countertop spans from end to end, approximately 15 feet, of the existing porch, providing lots of serving space for parties. Cantilevered gable porch extension was added to cover grill area and was designed to blend seamlessly with the existing porch roof features. The beaded ceiling hosts additional LED can lights to allow for use in the evenings as well.

We built this custom garage to accommodate the owner’s classic cars and workshop. The garage’s main level has parking and workshop space. Upstairs, there is additional workshop and storage space. The upstairs floor is equipped with a trap door with a hoist. Also, we installed a garage exhaust fan for ventilation. The exterior has a brick front and skirt, HardiePlank siding and Versatex trim. The foundation is solid poured concrete walls. The garage has metal interior and gas heat. The owner said the garage is so well insulated that only 2 window units are needed to cool it in the summertime.

2017 Tour of Remodeled Homes - People’s Choice Award Winner!

Conrad Construction Company renovated this 3,500-square-foot, 2-story home, seamlessly blending traditional and contemporary design. Refinished hardwood floors and warm gray paint set the stage downstairs. Floor to ceiling panel molding creates a stunning foyer. The kitchen boasts white inset cabinetry, white quartz and reclaimed wood countertops, a marble backsplash, and a custom stainless steel hood.  Navy colored cabinets pop in the butler’s pantry. The breakfast room addition features exposed brick. An Andersen Gliding Patio Door opens to the covered porch with a beaded ceiling and herringbone brick pavers. Reclaimed lumber beams accentuate the vaulted family room ceiling. Upstairs, wool carpet and soft neutral paint echo the transitional style. Full bathrooms have clean lines and simple accents.  The master bathroom shines with a freestanding tub, polished porcelain tile, and custom vanities.  A walk-in closet with custom built-ins and a tray ceiling utilizes space above the former 2-story foyer.

We removed the existing wood deck, railings, and stairs. We constructed a new deck with cedar posts and a cedar ceiling. We installed new Andersen A-series outswing French doors. Other features include a SCREENEZE porch screening system, LED recessed soffit and ceiling lights, and skylights.

We renovated the bathrooms throughout this home: the master bath, 3 other full baths, and a half bath.

The Master Bath has porcelain tile on the floor and walls with marble picture frame detail in the shower and granite countertops. The owners chose a barrier free curbless shower.

The other full bathrooms have porcelain tile floors and walls with travertine/glass mosaic detail strips. Countertops are quartz.

The half bath has a wood-look porcelain tile floor and a granite countertop.

This Master Suite Addition includes a master bathroom, bedroom, and closet. 

In the bathroom, custom recessed paneling surrounds the tub.
The top half of the shower walls and the niche are marble. The floor and bottom half of the shower walls are porcelain.  The vanity countertop is quartz. 

The bedroom ceiling features cedar beams.

Andersen 200 Series Narroline Gliding Patio Doors lead to a new courtyard connecting the Master Suite Addition to the recently added outdoor living area. 

The courtyard has exposed pea gravel concrete to match the existing outdoor living area.

For this project, we removed an existing deck and built a stone-floored deck and covered cedar porch with exposed rafters.

Features include an outdoor kitchen and fireplace.

We also installed Andersen A-series outswing doors.

This project included a kitchen renovation, room addition, and porch addition. The room addition included installing Andersen 400 Series Woodwright windows and an Andersen slider door. The porch features rustic exposed cedar and brick pavers.

We reconfigured and refinished this 2,000 sq/ft basement, expanding the entertainment area and other functional spaces. Adding an LVL beam to create an opening in the support wall allowed for a game room at the bottom of the refinished stairs. The game room features custom built in cabinetry for storage. On the other side of the stairs, a room was removed to create a bar area with walnut cabinets, stone backsplash with arched TV nook, and granite countertops. The light wood-look tile floors, raised ceilings and recessed LED lighting brighten the space. Unique iron pipe storage is featured in the exercise area and closet. A ventless gas fireplace with stone facade anchors the corner between the game room and TV room. A bedroom was created at the walk out corner, along with a small art studio.

Conrad Construction Company designed and constructed a 450 square foot addition to accommodate a living room, small office and powder room at this 1960s ranch house.  Attention to detail was given to ensure the architectural features of the addition blended with the existing structure. Removing 20 linear feet of the rear wall opened up the kitchen and dining room (the former living room) to the new living area. Design features include custom built-ins, a vaulted ceiling and a corner gas fireplace. New hardwood floors were stained a warm gray for a modern touch. Light pours in through the Andersen 200 Series Narroline Gliding Patio Doors leading to the new outdoor living area. This area boasts exposed pea gravel concrete and a covered porch featuring exposed cedar beams and rafters, giving it a rustic charm. To complete the space, a new custom built outdoor brick fireplace adds both ambiance and function.

With minimal improvements since this home was built in 1968, Conrad Construction Company took on the task of renovating the interior to update the décor, provide modern amenities and improve functionality. The main living areas were gutted and reconfigured to provide for better flow and expanded spaces. The enlarged Kitchen provides modern conveniences as well as design touches like leathered granite countertops and double islands. The Family Room design includes a built-in entertainment center, an updated slate fireplace and a new Andersen 200 Series Narroline Gliding Patio Door. New hardwood floors provide warmth. Energy efficient Andersen windows were installed throughout, including two Eagle Series bay windows. The Master Suite was enhanced by converting a bedroom into a spacious walk-in closet and completely remodeling the Master Bathroom into a luxurious and relaxing retreat adorned in Carrera marble and featuring a large walk-in shower, separate tub and double vanity.

Conrad Construction Company added a massive rustic covered porch to complement the Spanish exterior features of this home. The intricate detail of the vaulted ceiling was designed by Philip Conrad. The roof also features exposed cedar rafters and a beaded ceiling. It has a dry-laid real limestone fireplace, a hallmark of rustic porch design. Low-voltage LED mini can lights, the chandelier, fan, and sconce lighting, produce a relaxing effect. The porch has a full foundation with real stone skirting.

This project included an addition to extend the kitchen and open living area in the rear of the house; a new covered porch; and a remodeled upstairs hall bath.

The kitchen has separate cook, bake, beverage, and bar areas, and a wine room—with a barrel vaulted ceiling. Walnut cabinetry, real Kentucky limestone, and beams create a modern rustic feel. Notice the wide Andersen window over the counter. The bar features outside corner cabinets. Philip customized the dining room’s swing doors with beveled side lights to mirror the Andersen Eagle Frenchwood gliding patio doors. Philip is known for creatively realizing clients’ wishes; here, he hung lights from the beam; welded a customized steel support for the island’s free-floating granite overhang; and reused the owners’ Sub Zero refrigerator. Andersen Eagle Frenchwood gliding patio doors provide a 7-foot clear opening to the new covered porch.

Converted an existing deck into a screened-in porch. Installed a shed roof structure in order to vault the interior ceiling of the porch. Added a gas fireplace. Features include a SCREENEZE system and a tongue-and-groove ceiling. Replaced a double window with Andersen outswing French doors. Built a new open deck for a grilling space.
